Melissa (Mel) Michel was born in Los Angeles County and raised in the Southern California Mojave Desert. She was first introduced to ceramics in high school through an inspiring and supportive high school teacher. She later earned her BFA focusing in ceramics at the University of Tennessee. Melissa has been creating work since but became a full time traveling potter in 2016. She traveled across America, teaching and producing her work in different studios. Mel now resides in Summit County, CO and teaches/creates her work at the Art Spot Silverthorne.
